This game has TD elements, but it's not just that. You have a palace inside a dungeon. Enemies will try to get to the palace passing through the dungeon's corridors. You must not let them do it. You can build various defensive structures on the enemies' way. The most basic structures are soldier squads that will fight the enemy units when they approach. Unlike typical TD games you build these structures on the very path and not on its side. Besides, you can dig the ground expanding the path and collecting minerals. Your main hero can be moved with A-S-D-W or with the arrows. If you move him close to an enemy, it will automatically attack him.
